Frequently asked questions
Cloud computing commonly referred to as “the cloud” is the use of the internet to deliver on demand computing resources on pay-as-you go basis. The cloud has brought resilience and elasticity that has made it possible for companies to reduce initial capital expenditure.
A hosted Private Branch Exchange (PBX) is an IP- based telephony solution provisioned and accessed entirely through the internet. It can also be referred to as a cloud PBX.
The major difference between a PBX and an IP PBX lies in the way they connect to users. A PBX makes use of standard telephone line for both incoming and outgoing calls. An IP PBX on the other hand transfers analog voice data over the internet hence it requires internet connection and an IP Phone.
It is not uncommon for some companies to require that their analog PBX co-exists with the IP PBX. Advancements in technology have made it possible for the two telephone systems to be fused together seamlessly.
